Flossing with a permanent retainer? Yeah, it’s annoying. But skipping it isn’t an option unless you're cool with plaque and cavities. Luckily, it doesn’t have to be a struggle, so here’s how to make it easier.
Step 1: Get the Right Tools
Forget regular floss, you need:
- Floss threaders to helps you get under the wire -
- Superfloss (pre-threaded, makes life easier)
- Water flosser (because technology is awesome)
Step 2: The Thread-and-Slide Trick
- Use a floss threader to get under the wire.
- Slide the floss up and down and no sawing!
- Repeat for each tooth. Annoying? A little. Worth it? Definitely.
Step 3: Try a Water Flosser
Not into threading? A water flosser blasts out gunk without the hassle. Just aim, spray, and move on with your life.
Step 4: Make It a Habit
It takes an extra minute or two, but your teeth and future self will thank you. Try setting a reminder or rewarding yourself for consistency, whatever works to keep you on track.
Flossing with a retainer isn’t fun, but it’s doable. At Least you won’t have to deal with shifting teeth!
